TEQUOIA URBINA

Tequoia Urbina is a creative storyteller with extensive experience spanning over 25 years. Her journey in film began in the 6th grade and matriculated in her video production courses through college. Her love for cinema inspired her to create her production company, Magnolia Tree Productions. Dedicated to perpetual growth, Tequoia 's directorial work encompasses an array of thought-provoking projects that have garnered international recognition and acclaim. She is an advocate for women and BIPOC creatives in the film community. She understands there is a lack of diversity in the film and TV industry and does her part to promote more women, BIPOC, and LDBTQ individuals in front of and behind the camera.

She is a founding member of The Black Entertainment Economic Council based in Atlanta, GA. She is also a member of Women of Color Unite, Women in Film and Television Atlanta, Film Fatale, Film Impact Atlanta, Alliance of Women Directors, and is an ambassador for Hussleup, an app for film industry professionals. Tequoia is the co-host of Slates and Koffee, a film industry centered podcast. She has taught screenwriting with the Atlanta School of Photography and her script The Deacon won the Film Impact Georgia Development Grant in 2024. She is a member of the writing collective Nine Armadillos, and has co-written several pilots in development with the group.

Tequoia deeply understands the value of hard work and strives daily to leave a positive legacy for her children and film community.
